Course content

Refine your pain assessment skills, delve further into the fundamental aspects of pain management and analgesics.  The content of this course will cover clinically relevant discussions relating to multi-modal analgesia, acute and chronic pain, neuropathic pain, the differences between opioid agents and pain in special populations.

  • Patient-controlled analgesia (PCAs)

You’ll learn: 

You will learn about:

  • pain physiology, pathway and biopsychosocial model of pain management
  • acute, persistent and chronic pain presentations
  • evidence-based pain management agents, and their clinical application
  • pain management approaches for special populations, including the older, paediatric and pregnant patient
  • differentiate different pain presentations relating to nociceptive, neuropathic or nociceptive pain.

Your study experience

The expected time commitment to complete the course is 10 hours, and it will be available to you for a 12-week period from commencement

No, course fees need to be paid in full before you can commence the course.

I have paid the fee for a short course. When will I have access to the course?  

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.

Can I arrange payment with a Purchase Order?

Yes, we accept Purchase Orders. Please email to LaTrobeProfessional@latrobe.edu.au and our La Trobe Professional team will provide you with payment details and access to your course.
