Course content

Designed for IT graduates and IT professionals, this 8- week course will equip you with the fundamental skills and knowledge you’ll need to effectively design, develop and deploy ServiceNow applications to help solve business problems.

 

Before starting the course, it is highly recommended that you complete Welcome to ServiceNow, a 3-hour, on-demand introductory course, to learn how to navigate the platform and be introduced to key concepts such as lists, forms, tasks and reporting, among others.  To access this course, sign up for a Now Learning account with ServiceNow - you'll also need to do this for the Application Developer course.

  • Week 2 – Application Analysis and Design

  • Week 6 – Automating Work
  • Week 7 – Importing and Integrating
  • Week 8 – Test with Automated Test Framework

You’ll learn:

  • To assess what makes an application a good fit for the ServiceNow platform
  • To analyse and understand key points of the application design process, such as planning design considerations and designing database schema
  • How to use ServiceNow application development tools, including the Guided App Creator to create an application and Studio to further develop the application
  • To create and modify tables, to design and create forms for user interaction, and to apply scripting to further enhance the user experience.
  • How to set access controls in the application to ensure that only the correct users can access and modify data
  • How to use Flow Designer to automate processes, and how to set up scheduled script executions to send notifications to users.
  • To import and integrate data from spreadsheets and from web services.
  • How to use the Automated Test Framework to design custom automated tests that can validate functionality before deployment.

Over the course of the 8 weeks, you will be mentored in a small group to develop a ServiceNow application.  At the end of the course, each group will present their application to the instructors and other participants.

Your study experience

This 8-week short course is delivered online and consists of instructor-led seminars, online learning tasks, as well as Q&A and mentorship in the development of a ServiceNow application.

 

  • Instructor-led sessions will be conducted live online.
  • There are two x 2-hour live online instructor-led sessions for 6 weeks for the ServiceNow and design thinking components of the course. During and after these sessions, you will be given exercises to work through to gain practical experience.
  • There is an optional 1-hour per week for 8 weeks of online synchronous support.

This course will prepare you to take the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer online examination.

Those selected for employment by e-Centric Innovations may have their course fee subsidised (part or full) by e-Centric Innovations.

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.
