Learning objectives

The overarching learning objective of this training suite is to help you become more confident in working with Australian First Nations people and families. 

At the conclusion of this training, you will be better positioned to:

  1. Acknowledge and understand the importance of culture(s), cultural safety, cultural awareness and cultural bridging, as this knowledge will inform your work with First Nation families.
  2. Recognise how systemic family work differs from individual work.
  3. Build your confidence to work effectively with multiple people and multiple perspectives.
  4. Complement your skills and strategies in working with children and adolescents.
  5. ASSESS when it’s appropriate and safe to invite family and/or significant others to join a session.
  6. Attend to systemic wellbeing, for you, your family, your workplace and your community.

Module 1: Working with First Nations cultures; how culture affects therapy

Module 2: Family therapy theory and practice with a focus on First Nations families

Module 3: The complexity of families, family sessions with First Nations families

Can payment of a course fee be made in instalments?

No, course fees need to be paid in full before you can commence the course.

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.

Can I arrange payment with a Purchase Order?
