  • Demonstrate 4 years work experience - or 3 years of relevant IT work experience
  • Successfully complete this microcredential and its companion course, Cyber and Data Security for Professionals, waiving the requirement for an undergraduate degree
  • Apply for the Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity at La Trobe and get advanced standing for one subject.

Course content

Topics include:

  • Identifying security threats and determining counter measures
  • Analysis of  security system networks and data
  • Monitoring the secuirty of digital information

On successful completion of this course, you wil be awarded a digital credential and earn 5 credit points that can be accumulated with its partner course, Cyber and Data Security for Professionals (10 credit points), to stack into CSE4004 Cybersecurity Principles, a subject worth 15 credit points in the Graduate Certificate of Cybersecurity. 

 

If you don't have an undergraduate degree but do have 4 years of work experience (or 3 years relevant experience in the IT sector), you are eligible to apply for the Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity and get credit for courses you've already completed. 

 

You’ll learn:

This microcredential will equip you with a sound knowledge of cybersecurity principles and basic skills in:

  • Applying principles of cybersecurity practices, regulatory frameworks and industry standards

  • Protection of data, systems and networks through the application of cybersecurity techniques.

This microcredential addresses the skills in the following Australian Skills Classification clusters:

  • Security and emergency services
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Digital technologies and electronics. 

Your study experience

This course is delivered online over 2 weeks and consists of self-paced guided learning content and one live expert seminar.  The total expected time commitment for this course is 40 hours, and you will have 4 weeks in which to complete assessment tasks. 

 

The assessment for this course comprises online quizzes, with a required pass rate of 80%.

I have paid the fee for a short course. When will I have access to the course?  

Access to courses is generally available two weeks in advance of the scheduled course start date, or as advised in the registration confirmation email.  Course materials are made available via our Learning Management System (LMS) for which you will be provided with your username and initial password.

I need to defer my registration. How do I go about this? 

Prior to your course commencing, you may request a deferral of your registration to the next available course date, by contacting executive_professional_education@latrobe.edu.au.
